1. We believe there is one God in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. God is the creator and sustainer of all things. [Genesis 1:1, 26; Matthew 28:19; Acts 17:24-28] 2. We believe that God, in making Himself known to us, inspired the writers of the Bible. We believe that the Bible is entirely trustworthy, reliable and that it has supreme and unchallenged authority in matters of truth, faith and conduct. [2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20-21] 3. We believe people were made for relationship with God but turned their backs on God through wrong doing. We have all done wrong and are guilty in God’s sight. We are under His judgement and separated from Him. [Ephesians 2:1-3, 12; Romans 3:23, 6:23] 4. We believe Jesus Christ is fully undiminished God and perfectly human. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He was without wrong doing or evil in any way. [Philippians 2:6-11; Hebrews 1:1-3; 1 Peter 2:22] 5. We believe Jesus Christ took on Himself the wrongdoing and evil of the world when He died on the cross as our representative and substitute. God, who raised Him from the dead, showed His love for us and provided in Christ the only way for us to be forgiven and reconciled to Him. [2 Corinthians 5:21; Colossians 1:21-22; 1 John 2:1-2] 6. We believe that salvation is entirely by God’s mercy and grace through faith alone in the atoning work of Christ on the cross. We can not work or earn our way back into God’s favour. This salvation, once given, cannot be lost, abandoned or revoked. We believe the church has been entrusted with the communication of this gospel. [John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8; John 10:28-29; Romans 11:29; Hebrews 10:14; Matthew 28:19-20] 7. We believe the Holy Spirit brings people to acknowledge their wrongdoing and to turn to Christ in faith. We believe that He lives in “born again” believers, interceding for them, and develops their new life in Christ. Through the spiritual gifts and abilities God gives to all His people, the Holy Spirit enables the believer to serve God, to serve other believers, and to reach out to those who do not have a relationship with God through faith in Christ. [John 16:7-11; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; Acts 1:8] 8. We believe that God hears and answers the prayers of His people in accordance with His will. [John 16:24; 1 John 5:14-15] 9. We believe Jesus Christ, the living Lord, will again intervene in human history to take His people to be with him, to finally deal with Satan, and to judge the world. [1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:7-15] 10. We believe that hell is a real place of eternal torment, forever separated from God, after death for those who have rejected God, and that heaven is the eternal home with God for those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. [Luke 16:19-31; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9; John 14:2-3] |
